A wake-up call to transform business leadership to be successful with opportunities of 13th Malaysia Plan
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar
Ibrahim has just unveiled the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) - a
five-year roadmap from 2026 to 2031 aimed at driving sustainable and
equitable development for all Malaysians. Speaking at the Dewan Rakyat, the
Prime Minister emphasized six key focus area under 13MP: Education, Cost
of Living, Health, Housing, Risk management & Farming, with
overall goal to uplift all communities, enhance economic competitiveness &
future-proof the nation. The key thrusts of the plan include innovation-led
economy, high-tech industrialization, sustainable development and inclusive

The 13MP is commended for its
intend to address critical national challenges such as income inequality,
digital transformation, green economy transition that presents an opportunity
to reset priorities, build resilience, steer the nation towards sustainable,
inclusive growth & institutional reform. Economist Professor
Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Anuwar Ali who's also the former Vice Chancellor to
some established public and private universities in Malaysia, said “Its success, will depend on discipline, transparency and
effective implementation of the 13MP on expanding high-value industries which
includes aerospace.”

Mohamed Iqbal, Deputy Chairman & Group Executive Director, Farlim
Group (Malaysia) Bhd who's former Chairman, Malaysian Institute
of Management (MIM) added, “Local businesses play a crucial role in
ensuring the success of MP13 building up their communities by providing goods
and services directly to Malaysians, creating jobs, and pouring funds into the
domestic economy, and helping diversify local marketplaces growth.”
I agree with Tan Sri Anuwar and
Datuk Seri Iqbal that Malaysia has entered an era of massive digital and
technological transformation. It will significantly change the way we
work, run businesses and the way society works. Understanding how to lead
the human capacity and technological potential in this context will be the new
competitive edges. With clear priority, we can build capacity, creativity &
courage needed to bring Malaysia forward at high speed.
