The Human Capital Imperative: Tackling the Brain Drain The economic impact of a thriving aerospace industry is immense, generating direct and indirect employment across a spectrum of roles, from design engineers and airline pilots to hospitality and retail. However, a significant challenge currently plaguing the Malaysian aerospace sector is the critical issue of human capital flight or "brain drain." A stark illustration of this challenge emerged since June 2024, with several alarming incidents involving Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) aircraft forced to turn back due to engine and flight system failures. These incidents have largely been attributed to  systemic issues  within MAB Engineering Services (MABES), including poor internal processes and inadequate supervision. This non conducive environment has regrettably led to a significant exodus of experienced engineers and technicians, who have sought opportunities with airlines and MRO companies in other countries...
